eating disorder

Eating disorders have high mortality rate. Common type of eating disorders are:

Anorexia Nervosa

People with anorexia are severely underweight but view themselves as overweight. They tend to constantly monitor their weight out of fear of gaining weight, unwilling to maintain healthy recommended weight, a distorted body image, connect self-worth with body shape, and severely restrict eating habits.

Bulimia nervosa

People with bulimia nervosa eat a lot of food and then purge to prevent gaining weight. They maintain normal weight but are afraid of gaining weight. They also connect self-worth with body shape.

Binge eating disorder

People with binge eating eat a lot of food in a short period of time, eating until they are so full, they feel ashamed or guilty by doing so, they may eat in secret out of embarrassment, and they may eat when they are not physically hungry.
